Fundraising Ideas

My focus this upcoming year is to fund raise for my trip. It is pretty expensive to travel to Africa and I am responsible for my expenses as well as any additional supplies I bring to AHOPE or field trips while I am there.

Can you make suggestions for fundraising? Think of fundraisers that you have thrown or attended that were successful. Let me know your thoughts.

OK, so I'll add some that we already discussed:

1. Letter/email campaign
2. Jeans day at school
3. Election party...buy the ballot
4. Donations from local stores or restaurants

I had a bowl-athon. I rented out a floor at the local bowling alley (for free), then charged tickets to friends/families/kids I babysit. It would usually cost $10 to play 2 games and get shoes, so I charged them $13, thus making $3 off every person who came. I also asked that everyone bring a donation for me to bring to the DR to donate (I got a ton fo school supplies, clothes, shoes, toothrbushes, toothpaste, etc.) It wasn't a huge money maker (a couple hundred) but I could have raised more if I had put more into it- ex. having a 50/50 draw while there, etc.

Okay...so here are a few ideas.
- Host a kegger - have people pay for their cups. :)
- Raffle tickets - have one winner winning something donated or $50 of the raffle money.
- ask family and friends to donate their Christmas money to AHOPE, either for your trip or the library, instead of buying gifts.
- for every Christmas card I send I will donate a dollar toward the AHOPE library.
- contact a local establishment, such as Fitzgerald's, and ask to charge a fee at the door.

I hope this sparks some ideas...
